Western School Improvement Grants (SIG) Conference

The Center on Instruction is a co-sponsor of the four regional School Improvement Grants (SIG) conferences held in April and May 2011. The first one, the Western SIG Conference, was held April 5-6 in Los Angeles, CA, and included a presentation by COI-RTI Deputy Director Christy Murray on Effective Instruction for Adolescent Struggling Readers: Bridging Research to Practice and Supporting School Improvement Efforts. Her PowerPoint presentation and handouts used during the session, including tools from DWW (Doing What Works), are available for download below.
COI-ELL Director David Francis and Julie Russ, Research Associate, Language Diversity and Literacy Development Group, Harvard Graduate School of Education, also gave a presentation on Organizing for the Success of English Language Learners. The PowerPoint presentation from their session is also available for download below.
