Our Materials

Who We Are | Project Scope | Our Materials | Related Links

Our materials are available electronically through this website; we do not produce hard copies. Materials were developed under Cooperative Agreement S283B050034 from the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Office of Special Education Programs at the U.S. Department of Education. They are available free of charge for downloading or copying provided proper credit is given (see copyright information below).

Copyright

The Center on Instruction and the U. S. Department of Education retain sole copyright and ownership of the products developed by the Center. However, these products may be downloaded for free from the Center's website. They may also be reproduced and distributed with two stipulations: (1) the "preferred citation" for each product, typically noted on the page following the title page, must be included in all reproductions and (2) no profit may be made in the reproduction and/or distribution of the material. Nominal charges to cover printing, photocopying, or mailing are allowed.

Review Procedures for COI-Developed Materials

All COI-developed materials were reviewed on the quality of the content, and the relevance and usefulness of the product. Reviews were conducted by at least three external reviewers (outside experts on the quality of the content, relevance and usefulness of the product) selected by the strand director; additional reviewers have been enlisted at the discretion of the strand director. Documents were forwarded to USED for review and approval before posting to the COI website.

Archived files from professional development events such as webinars, and materials such as PowerPoint presentations created for a workshop/PD event that are not part of materials development work for which we have written a description, were exempt from the external review process.

Review Procedures for Non-COI Developed Materials Posted on the COI Website

The purpose of reviewing materials developed outside of the Center on Instruction was to determine whether they had a high enough level of quality, usefulness, and relevance to be included on the COI website. In general, COI only reviewed materials available free of charge.
