A working meeting entitled, “Response to Intervention (RTI) Implementation and State Priorities” was held in Austin, Texas January 25-26, 2011, to identify how RTI is relevant to new state priorities, including School Improvement Grants, Common Core State Standards, and effective instruction for diverse learners.  Understanding was facilitated through small and large group discussions with Center on Instruction staff members. Information recorded during the meeting formed the basis for a webinar entitled "Connecting RTI to New Priorities: Aligning Educational Initiatives."

Participants included a group of states (Alaska, California, Idaho, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Texas, Vermont, and Wyoming) and their respective Regional Comprehensive Centers (Alaska Comprehensive Center, California Comprehensive Center, Northwest Regional Comprehensive Center, Southeast Comprehensive Center, Mid-Atlantic Comprehensive Center, Texas Comprehensive Center, and New England Comprehensive Center) with whom Center on Instruction has been collaborating on state-level implementation of RTI over the past three years.  Staff from the National Center on Response to Intervention and National High School Center also participated.
